KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - The Southern Oregon University men’s team placed five runners in the top 10, while Concordia University had four runners score in the top 11, to highlight the 2010 CCC Cross Country Championships Saturday at Steen Sports Park. DJ Flores and Karlee Coffey, both of Eastern Oregon University, took home the men’s and women’s individual titles.
Flores took the men's individual title in a time of 25:27.05, while Southern Oregon runners Zach Elliot (25:33), David Laney (25:52) and James Johnstone (26:06) finished 2-3-4 for the Raiders. College of Idaho’s Greg Montgomery rounded out the top five on the men’s side with a time of 26:07 on the 8K course.
Southern Oregon captured its third straight title with a 24-point total. Eastern Oregon edged out College of Idaho, 57-58, for second. Concordia University scored 131 points to take fourth place, while the Oregon Tech men finished fifth with 164 points.
Concordia, which finished second last year, kept The College of Idaho women from winning its third consecutive CCC title after scoring 44 points to get past second place Southern Oregon University with 52 points. C of I finished third with 69 points, followed by Eastern Oregon (95) and Northwest Christian (108).
Karlee Coffey ran away with the women’s 5K event with a time of 18:34, while Concordia’s Alice Taylor took second after crossing in 19:10. Northwest Christian’s Megan Hall finished third (19:33), while Lauren Moran of Concordia (19:37) and Stephanie Hescock of NCU (19:38) rounded out the top five.

The Concordia women and Southern Oregon men earned automatic berths in the NAIA Cross Country National Championships, which will take place at the Fort Vancouver National Historical Site in Vancouver, Wash. on Saturday, Nov. 20. At-large bids and individual qualifiers will be announced by the NAIA on Monday. A number of other CCC teams and individual are expected to be included in the field.
