LA GRANDE, Ore. – After splitting a conference regular season title last year, Eastern Oregon has been selected to win the 2015 campaign by a vote of the conference head coaches.
EOU ended last season with a 16-2 conference record, going 30-6 overall on the year but will have to find a way to replace a key player in CCC Volleyball Player of the Year Casey Loper. With 113 point in the poll, the Mountaineers took first place by only five points.
Both totaling 108 points in the poll, College of Idaho and Southern Oregon tied for second place with COI earning three first place votes and SOU earning two.
The Yotes finished fourth overall in the conference standings a year ago with a 13-5 record in CCC play. They return five total starters including All-CCC winners Sierra Porter and Kylie Porter.
Southern Oregon, who went 16-2 against conference opponents a year ago, finished last season with a perfect home record and a piece of the regular season title. The Raiders have four key returners including setter Lauren McGowne who finished fourth in the conference in assists per set with 9.95.
Northwest came in fourth in the preseason poll with 78 points after finishing last season in fifth with an 8-10 CCC record. Following the Eagles are Oregon Tech (65) in fifth, Corban (60) in sixth, Warner Pacific (54) in seventh, Northwest Christian (53) in eighth and The Evergreen State College (48) in ninth.
Finishing out the bottom of the conference poll are CCC newcomers Walla Walla University (26) and Multnomah University (13) who both enter their first year in the conference after gaining acceptance in spring.
