PORTLAND, Ore. – On the strength of winning or sharing four league titles and recording top three finishes in six of eight sports, Eastern Oregon University has claimed the 2007-08 Cascade Collegiate Conference All-Sports Trophy, given annually to the most successful athletics program in the 11-member CCC.

The Mountaineers totaled 145 points to edge out runner-up Oregon Tech (137) and third-place finisher Concordia (133). Points are awarded based on regular season conference finishes in a maximum of eight sports.

Under the leadership of athletic director Rob Cashell, Eastern Oregon won outright CCC regular season titles in men’s and women’s cross country and men’s basketball, and shared the women’s basketball crown. EOU also had a runner-up showing in men’s track and a third-place finish in women’s track.

"It is an honor to win the All-Sports Trophy for the Cascade Collegiate Conference," said Cashell, who is completing his seventh year as EOU’s athletic director. "Our conference is one of the toughest in the NAIA, and this award is a testament to the great effort from our coaches and student-athletes who have represented EOU this past year."

Oregon Tech totaled 137 points in finishing second in the race for CCC all-sports supremacy. The Owls claimed a CCC title in softball, finished second in men’s basketball and women’s track, and posted third-place finishes in volleyball, women’s soccer, women’s basketball and men’s track.

Concordia, the recipient of last year’s CCC All-Sports Trophy, finished third with 133 points. The Cavaliers totaled a league-high six conference championships in 2007-08, claiming regular season crowns in men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s track, and men’s and women’s golf.

College of Idaho finished fourth (128) and Southern Oregon fifth (107).
